Deputy Director of Geological Surveys National Minerals Agency of the Republic of Republic of Sierra Leone

Joseph Lebbie is the Deputy Director of Geological Survey in Sierra Leone and a Geologist with over 12 years’ working experience in the Private and Public Sector in various leadership and technical roles as Project Geologist, Senior Exploration Geologist, Mine Geologist and Chief Geologist at the National Minerals Agency.

Joseph is multi-skilled with demonstrable hands- on experience in Geographic Information System technologies and Mapping Applications; geo- scientific data processing and analysis, information and knowledge management systems.

Joseph has a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Geology from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and an MSc in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing from Centre Universitaire SIG et Teledection in Burkina Faso. He is a member of the Sierra Leone Institution of Geo-Scientists (SLIG) and a member of the West African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (WAIMM), and he has participated in several capacity building training programmes and experience sharing exercises across Africa and beyond, including the United Kingdom.

Before joining the National Minerals Agency (NMA), he worked as Senior Exploration Geologist and Mine Geologist for the African Minerals Limited where he supervised the transition from exploration to mining.
